Inmate stabbed with plexiglass weapon United Press International LOVELADY — An Easthani Unit inmate was stabbed three times Tuesday with a homemade plexig lass knife designed to escape discov ery by prison metal detectors, a Texas Department of Corrections spokesman said. “They’re trying to beat the sys tem,” TDC spokesman Charles Brown said of the use of heavy plas tic knives. “We ll have to go back to the drawing board again.” Inmate Ricky Harris, 27, was stabbed in both arms and the right side with a 10 Ki-inch weapon in the unit dining hall about 5:30 a.m. Brown said Harris was standing in the dining hall when suspect Ronnie Beller, 30, produced the weapon.
