United States Representative
Joe Barton (Rep.)...27
Joe Barton is an effective conservative leader
who can help build a better Texas. An
engineering graduate of Texas A&M (72), he
has been a manager, consultant, and civic
leader. Joe Barton was chosen by President
Regan as a White House Fellow. He worked
closely with energy secretary Jim Edwards on
cost control and natural gas policy projects.
Joe is endorsed by Phil Gramm, John Tower,
Jack Kemp, Bill Clements, the U.S. Chamber of
Commerce, the Young Conservatives of Texas,
and over 100 other business and conservative
organizations.
Joe Barton supports balancing the budget
without raising taxes and a strong national
defense. In the words of Phil Gramm, Joe
“represents the conservative philosophy,” and
“has both the experience and the drive to be an
outstanding Congressman.”
State Representative
Richard A. Smith (Rep.)...56
When Texas A&M students needed a friend,
Aggie Richard Smith ’59 was there. When the
Democrats set the Special Election during
Spring Break last semester so Aggies couldn’t
vote, Richard Smith fought for our right to vote.
Richard Smith even provided for a shuttle bus
system to take Aggies to vote absentee.
When Texas A&M comes under attack,
Aggies stick together.
Tomorrow let’s elect a State Representative
that will represent us!

County Commissioner
Billy Beard (Rep.)... 101
“Efficiency is my main objective ”
I ran for office in 1980 because taxes and the
county’s budget just kept going up.
As your County Commissioner, I am directing
county government in a direction to work with
Bryan and College Station city governments to
eliminate duplication of efforts. Efficiency is my
main objective.
