ver dollars are
who drop the coins in slots to see x-
rated shows, a magazine says.
Unfortunately, “the public just
doesn’t want a dollar com,” Vanity
Fair quoted a Treasury spokesman
as saying. Most of the Anthonys have
never left the mint.
But they have proved popular SHOE
with those who frequent pornogra
phy houses, the magazine reported
in its October issue.
“Patrons — often not a feminist
sympathizer among them — happily
hand over foldable dollars for hand
fuls of the coins,” Vanity Fair said.

In 1979, the U.S. Treasury
minted 858 million Anthony dollars,
roughly the size of a quarter, in
honor of the famed feminist and
suffragette.

Corps' lounge renovation finished
The study lounges on the quad
rangle in the Corps dormitory area-
were repaired and recarpeted dur
ing the summer and the last
shipment of new furniture has just
arrived, says Roxie Pranglin, Corps
area coordinator.
The lounges. A, B, C and D, all
have new chairs, tables, two-seater
and three-seater couches. Fluores
cent lights have replaced the over
hanging lights in the back and side
areas in all of the lounges.
The money for the renovations
was obtained from three sources:
dorm room rental fees, interest
earned on dorm room rental fees,
and money obtained through special
events — such as conventions and
conferences held during the sum
mer — Barry Nelson, manager of
Administrative Services, said.
"Some of the old furniture k
been in the study lounges sina
ia.
1974,” Pranglin saic
The lounges had vinyl coverd
walls, but it got to the point whertt
ff th
was better to take off the vinylkt
cause it had many rips in it, Prangk
said. The walls then were retexturd
and painted, she said
