HowTo Get 2,000 Hours
Of Great Music
Consider this: Drivers drive about
two hours a day. Most listen to music
as they roll along.
That adds up to 14 hours a week, or
over 700 hours a year. Keep your car
three years and that's over 2,000 hours
of rock, classical, country western or
whatever.
Our point: An hour invested now
can save you 1,999 hours of not-so-hot
listening up the road.
So bring in your favorite cassette,
The Rolling Stones or Beethoven. Kick
back and take an Alpine test-listen.
Odds are overwhelming you'll be
blown away. Thanks to advanced
Alpine electronics and our expert
installation techniques, together
creating The Alpine Touch.
Take the short drive to our place. It
beats 1,999 miles of rocky rock and

Rangers 2, Angels 1
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Pinch hitter
Marvis Foley drove a two-out single
in the top of the 10th inning Sunday
to drive in pinch runner Billy Sam
ple from third base, giving the pesky
Texas Rangers a 2-1 victory over the
California Angels.
Larry Parrish opened the 10th
with a double to left center, beating
Fred Lynn’s throw to second. Sam
ple ran for Parrish and George
Wright popped a foul off third base
that Doug DeCinces dropped when
a fan hit his glove about two rows be
hind the stands in the Angels’ du-
gout. With new life, Wright flied
deep enough to right Field to ad
vanced Sample to third.
Bobby Jones was walked inten
tionally by loser Jim Slaton, 7-9, and
Bill Stein struck out. But Foley drove
his hit just out of the range of rookie
first baseman Darrell Miller to bring
home the run.
Dave Stewart pitched only his sec
ond complete game of the season in
26 starts, allowing only four hits.
Stewart struck three and walked two
to improve to 6-14.
After being shutout for 7 2-3 in
nings on just two hits by Jim Slaton,
Texas rallied to tie the score at 1-1 in
the eighth. Donnie Scott blooped a
two-out double in between a trio of
Angels in short center field and
pinch hitter Tommy Dunbar looped
a similar hit to center for a single to
get the tying run home.
The Angels scored in the second
inning when Brian Downing drove a
1-1 pitch from Dave Stewart over the
left field wall with one out for his
22nd homer.
California had only one other
scoring threat. In the fifth. Downing
walked and with one out, Bobby
Grich hit a bouncer to the right of
shortstop Curt Wilkerson, who
fielded the ball but threw it wildy
past second allowing the runners to
reach second and third. But Bob
Boone, trying to lay down a squeeze
bunt, popped up to first baseman
Jones and Jones alertly threw to
third to double up Downing.
In their final home gameoflSSl
the Angels drew a crowd of 45,f
to bring their total to 2,402,997fd
the season. However, that wasij
drop of over 150,000 from 1983ii(i
spite the fact the club was incontol
lion all season long. The Angelsfc
ished a dismal 37-44 at home ami
will play their final eight games#
the road.
Astros 2, Reds 1
HOUSTON — Bob Kneppt

tros to snap a tour-game
streak with a 2-1 triumph overtly
Cincinnati Reds.
Knepper, 15-10, allowed t»t
walks and struck out six in pitchiii!
his 11th complete game of the year
The Reds scored their only m
off Knepper in the second inniii
w hen Nick Esasky slammed his
homer of the year.

with his fourth home run of tin
year, off starter and loser Joe Prkt
7-13, to tie the score at 1-1.
