Page 10/The Battalion/Friday, April 6, 1984 Rules on child abuse clarified R.l. by Paul Dirmeyei United Press International AUSTIN — In the wake of child sex abuse charges filed against employees at the Texas School for the Deaf, Gov. Mark White announced Thursday rules for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect had been clarified for state employ ees. Criminal charges have been filed against several employees of the Texas School for the Deaf, where administrators failed to report suspected inci dences of abuse to authorities for several weeks. While formed a special group within his office to clarify guidelines for reporting sus pected abuse and neglect within state agencies. The rules require incidents to be reported immediately to the Department of Human Re sources and local law enforce ment authorities.
