Eddy era of the 30s,” Bowdon said. Audience participation is one of the main purposes of the the ater. “We want to get as much au dience participation as we can,” he said. The audience will be encour aged to throw popcorn at the vulian, and a member of the au dience will play the role of “Duke X. Mackinaw,” the char acter who shows up in the last act to resolve the play. “The Mackinaw character is based on the Shakespearian practice of developing a charac ter late in the play to help re solve the conflicts created in the pJay.” Mackinaw is also based on the old “Carol Burnett Show,” when audience members acted in scenes with the cast members, Bowdon said. The actors will even carry on conversations in the audience. “This means there will be a lot of ad-libbing,” he said. “So every performance will be dif ferent.” Although the theater does not have a non-profit status, any proceeds beyond produc tion costs will be re-invested in future productions. “We want to add to the cultu ral environment of the area, provide an alternative to the traditional entertainment forms, and keep money in the Bryan-College Station area,” he said. Bowdon said people usually go into Houston or Dallas to go to a dinner theater. “But they couldn’t get there what we are offering here,” he said. The theater is in the second floor penthouse of the Aggie land Inn. Perfromances will be on Thursdays, Fridays, Satur days and Sundays March 29 thru May 4, at 8 p.m., with the buffet s tailing at 6:30 p.m. Thursday nights vyill be econ omy nights and the Aggieland Inn will provide hors d’oeuvre’s. Friday night is the Aggieland’s regular seafood buffet and Saturday will be the more traditional buffet of meat and potatoes. Sunday there will be a 2 p.m. brunch and a buffet dinner. United Press International BELFAST, Northern Ireland — Two IRA gunmen killed a Maze prison official Tuesday, firing repeatedly through the rear window of his car as the man’s wife and child watched after kissing him goodbye on his way to work. Police said William McCon nell, 35, as assistant governor at the prison, was shot in the head and face by the assassins from the outlawed Irish Republican Army. He slumped to the ground in a pool of blood and died nearly instantly. McConnell had just kissed his wife, Beryl, and 3-year-old daughter, Gail, goodbye when the two gunmen ran up behind his car and fired repeatedly through the rear window. As the gunmen escaped, the dying man’s child was left screaming hysterically on the pavement as his wife cradled her husband in her lap, a neigh bor said. The IRA said McConnell, the 23rd prison officer to be killed in Northern Ireland, was exe cuted because his job was break ing Republican opposition to menial work tasks at the high- security Maze prison outside Belfast. “This was a particularly bru tal crime,” said an angry police spokesman. “The gunmen showed no compassion for their victim or his family.” The guerrilla group, which seeks to oust British troops from Northern Ireland, said in a statement the assassination did not herald a new campaign against prison officers. 5*2- Chimney Hill Bowling Center TAMU Students Bowl for $ 1.00 per Game Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m.-4:00 a.m. Must show student I.D. LOUPOT'S OFF CAMPUS CORNER GETTING A HEAD START The time for selecting roommates and finding a place to live is quickly approaching. These decisions should be made before the end of the spring semester since many students will go home for the summer. The Off Campus Center (OCC) can help you get started by providing a roommate referral service and information on area housing possibilities. On March 19 we will begin taking roommate cards for the sum mer and fall. Whether you have housing and need room mates or need both housing and roommates, the roommate referral service is available to you. Maps and current prices of major apartment complexes are also available. Early selection of housing provides you with a wide range of choices. Also, The abundance of housing available allows you the opportunity to look at a variety of apartments. The Clip and most important fact to remember is to FINALIZE ARRANGE MENTS WITH ROOMMATES BEFORE SIGNING A LEASE. This past year many students signed leases first and were then unable to find roommates. Fall apartment prices will be available by mid-April. The OCC staff will be glad to assist you in your search for off campus housing. The OCC is located in Puryear Hall, di rectly across from the YMCA building. Please feel free to stop by or give us a call at 845-1741. An early search can prevent problems later. SaVe ■■■■■■ ■■■■■■ COMING EVENTS 0) > <0 <0 ■O c <0 g.
