Footloose: This movie is this year's answer to Flashdance. Kevin Bacon, of Diner fame, stars as the free-style dancer from Chicago who moves to a small town. Of course, he is not welcomed with open arms by the town elders and the town minister is especially repulsed by him. But the minister's daughter has different ideas about the new kid in town. This film will be re membered for the dancing and the music. PG. Uncommon Valor: A father (Gene Hackman) cannot accept the fact that his son is listed as Vietnam MIA. Hackman goes back to Viet nam to find his son and the other soldiers he is sure are still alive in POW camps. R. W eekend Pass: A movie for all who would enjoy three men in the Navy with their first pass since they enlisted. A low budget film with a great deal of sex, violence and very little plot. R. Harry & Son: Paul Newman and Robby Benson star in this film about a construction worker and his son, a would-be writer. Never Cry Wolf: Walt Disney studios spent two years shooting this film on location in Alaska. It is the story of a man who gives up civilization and moves to the wil derness to study a pack of wolves and to survive in the wild. PG. Sahara: This 1920's adventure film features sheiks, car races, and the woman that made Calvin Klein jeans famous, Brooke Shields. A film that includes the desert, lovely women and handsome men. What more could you want? PG. Plitt Cinema III 846-6714 Blame it on Rio: Michael Caine vacations with friend, Joseph Bolo gna, in Rio de Janeiro. Both bring their daughters along, but Bolo gna's daughter makes a play for Caine. A good comedy, but not a great movie. R. The Right Stuff: This is one of the year's most acclaimed movies. This film gives an account of the birth of America's space program. This film explores the private lives of our early astronauts. It's funny as well as inspiring. PG. The Dresser: Albert Finney plays Sir, an aging, pompous actor who has devoted all his life to his career. Through Sir's life he has alienated all who were close to him except The Dresser, played by Tom Courtenay. Courtenay is dedicated to the theatre and over-indulgent of his master. It is a bittersweet, co medic story of the relationship be tween a mother and her daughter as they both grow up. R. Unfaithfully Yours: Another Dudley Moore comedy in which a man spends his time thinking up different ways to kill his wife after she supposedly has an affair. The wife is played by Nastassja Kinski. R. Against All Odds: A new film which stars Jeff Bridges, Rachel Ward and James Ward in a love tri angle. This film depicts the power of Los Angeles and how it almost consumes the main characters. Lucky for the viewers, the main characters escape to the Yucatan which is a fantastic background for the film.
