Tyrer, an obstetrician and gynecologist who left active practice for administrative duties, said she is not interested in running for political office. But she said young women should strive toward getting women elected to top political offices. She said most research dollars now are directed toward cancer and heart projects. “I think the reason for that is that most of the decision-makers are men,” Tyrer said. She said she would like to see more money put into health re search so that women’s health issues also can be more closely studied. Tyrer, 62, has been an admi nistrative doctor with Planned Parenthood since 1975. She said she became in terested in women’s health care while growing up in China where her father ran a mission hospital. She said health care for women and children there has improved dramatically during the past 40 years. SERVICES PART-TIME help wanted. Apply at Piper’s Gulf.
