Workers for Continental Park Attractions, the New York company that owns the ride, slowly began removing the ride’s gondolas as investigators photo graphed, diagrammed and mea sured tiny parts of the ride’s structure. One of the Enterprise’s gon dolas ripped off the high speed ride Oct. 17, killing one of its passengers, 19-year-old William Wade Phillips, and injuring 16 bystanders as it skidded 40 feet along the midway. Fred Stradley, a Dallas lawyer said Saturday that weeks ot tests, metal analyses and engineering studies must be completed be fore a cause of the accident will be determined. The breakdown of the ride is continuing slowly as representa tives from the State Fair, U.S. Consumer Product Safety Com mission, the ride’s manufactur er, and the people injured in the accident watch and approve each step of the procedure.
