Cocaine truck
seized by state
" United Press International
BEAUMONT — A Col
ombian national stopped with
70 pounds of cocaine — the
largest seizure ever by state
agents — was charged Thursday
with drug possession and held
under $2.5 million bond.
The driver, Alberto Gustavo
Roldad, 41, was placed in the
Jef ferson County Jail.
Department of Public Safety
officers, acting on information
gathered during a one-month
undercover investigation, stop
ped the truck on Interstate 10,
said DPS spokesman Larry
Todd.
A search revealed a 2-foot-6-
inch by 4-foot-6inch hidden
compartment welded to the bot
tom of the truck bed, containing
31 bags of cocaine worth an esti
mated $4 million on the street,
Todd said.

United Press International
SAN ANTONIO —Although
Thomas Denny’s wound did not
come in the heat of battle, the

would go into battle again.
Denny, 22, an Army Spec. 4
from Detroit, was on Grenada
for four days before he was
wounded in the hand when his
gun accidentally went off during
guard duty, he said Thursday.
Denny was brought to the
