International and local en gineers, policy makers, food producers and meteorologists are scheduled to attend the con ference to discuss problems on a global scale. ' Dr. Bill Stouts, program chairman, said: “We want to plan action by involving the decision makers. Hopefully, we will stimulate some projects, and change food and water policies as they relate to the world food supply.” Special Projects Coordinator Jack Cross said the idea came from President Frank E. Van diver, who he said believes prob lems like world hunger can and should be solved by a network of universities. Texas A&M is a natural school to have a leadership role in this network because of its his tory of helping with agricultural problems, he said. A major international confer ence like this also will help the world become more aware of Texas A&M, Cross said. Nobel laureate Norman Bor- laug, who is joining the Texas A&M faculty, has been invited to serve on the conference’s advis ory committee. Committee members will give presentations on their studies, problems and observations in food production and water.
