Page 4/The Battalion/Friday, September 30,1983 Filing will begin Monday for Class of‘87 officers by Edye Williams Battalion Reporter Freshmen who want to run for senator positions and class officers can file for the election Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Eight senator positions are open in addition to president, vice president, treasurer, secret ary and social secretary positions for the class of ’87. Senators will represent the views of their constituents to r members of the Student Senate at bi-weekly meetings. They also are expected to participate on one of the five legislative com mittees, which include academic affairs, external affairs, finance, rules and regulations and stu dent services. The class officers’ main re sponsibilities are promoting class unity and fundraising. The social secretary works to coor dinate the class balls and the ring dance. The chairmen aid in the class fundraising and spirit functions and make sure the class’ budget is sound. Enough money must remain after the dance to purchase the class’ gift to the school. Senatorial candidates must have 25 constituent signatures when filing and a midterm grade-point ratio of 2.25. The student must maintain a 2.25 GPR, failure to do so will result in removal from office. Filing will take place in 214 and 214a Pavilion. A fee of $3 must be paid when filing. The students will receive a handbook that contains election rules and campaigning procedures, guidelines and rules. Elections will be Monday, Oct. 24. Voting will take place in the Pavilion and the Memorial Stu dent Center. Run off elections will be Thursday, Oct. 27. ASSAULT: • A student was assaulted while swimming in Wofford Cain Pool. She said she recog nized the man who grabbed her. Charges will be filed.
