Is Di pregnant?
She’s not telling
United Press International
LONDON — A surprise
trip from Scotland to London
by Princess Diana had Fleet
Street guessing again Tues
day — is she or isn’t she pre
gnant with her second child?
There were a few pointers
but the princess’ gynecologist
simply wasn’t telling.
"Di’s mystery trip,” head
lined the Daily Express.
“Diana in new baby mystery,”
emblazoned the Daily Mail
over four of its five front-page
columns.
The Mail noted that the
princess paid a private visit to
royal gynecologist George
Pinker two weeks ago.
Diana broke off her holi
day in Scotland Monday to fly
to London and her one-day
visit happened to coincide
with Pinker’s return to the
capital from a two-week
holiday.
Buckingham Palace offi
cials said they expected the
coincidence to trigger specu
lation from the press that the
22-year-old princess was pre
gnant.
Diana made an identical
flight from Aberdeen Airport
to see Pinker two years ago.
CCF
(continued from page 1)
He said that when he men
tioned the idea to Charles
Gregg, CCF’s director of de
velopment, he couldn’t have
gotten a better response.
“He said, ‘Let’s do it,’ Murray
said.
Murray said that since the
pledge has been publicized, he
has received inquiries from the
University of Florida, Boston
College and several other
schools. CCF hopes to make the
Texas A&M Village of Hope a
prototype for other schools and
large organizations.
“Columbia is one of our new
er countries,” he said. “There
are a number of places that
would be an ideal place to begin,
and a number of villages are
being looked at.”
Murray said the $25,()()() will
take care of approximately 120
children for one year.
Kellner said he is hoping stu
dents and faculty with certain
expertise could visit the village
and help teach such skills as how
to dig wells and plant better
crops, in effect establishing a
Texas A&M peace corps.
Murray said: “That is a great
possibility. In many countries
expert background and help is
needed, and it would be ideal if
Texas A&M University is in a
position to provide it and if it
works out on the other end.”
He said the needs of the villa
gers would be determined by the
CCF workers at the field office
in Bogota, Columbia.
Kellner said he hopes that
Texas A&M could eventually
provide scholarships for some of
the brighter children of the vil-
lage.
“The concept of sponsoring h
village instead of just one child
confuses some people,” KellneY
said. “I don’t want to take on the
village as if it were a welfare case,
but to make the villagers self-
sustaining.”
Kellner says that he hopes the
village will no longer need finan
cial assistance after five or ten
years. •
Kellner is in the process of
appointing a Christian Chil
dren’s Fund Advisory Commit
tee made up of members of the
faculty anti representatives ol
the local community.
