The class action suit accuses Braniffs institutional lenders of acquiring the power in a con spiracy “to donate, control and manipulate Braniffs financial affairs,” beginning in late 1980. Named as defendants were almost 40 of the nation’s largest banks and insurance companies who hold mortgages on Bra niffs remaining jet fleet and re lated ground service equipment. The suit seeks payment of some $100 million of principal and the deferred interest and other costs that have been incur red since Braniff filed for bank ruptcy and reorganization in May 1982. The suit, by the Secured Bond Owners Creditors’ Com mittee, also accuses three banks — Fidelity Union, Inferfirst Dal las and Chemical Bank — of fail ing to perform their duties to protect the interests of the bond holders. The suit was filed by Boston attorney Edwin A. McCabe, who said the suit was not a response to recent reports that the se cured lenders were close to an agreement with Hyatt of Chicago on a reorganization plan. “I understand ii io| committee’s view arrrangement with Hij the lines discussed toil not be in the best inters public debt owned ani objected to in the bar courts,” McCabe said, “This suit has been because Braniffs ins® lenders have been ope® the premise that the ini; the investing public ignored. We intend them wrong.” Braniffs lenders 2,000 bondholders anilli 40 banks and insuraia panics. But the sn hanks and insurancecot are owed about three amount of money claim bondholders. Earle Paschall is pressing a civil rights lawsuit against three University Park policemen ac cused of beating him after his arrest Dec. 16, 1981. Paschall said he, his daughter and his daughter’s boyfriend were arrested for no apparent reason during the annual office Christmas party at his house. The dentist testified he was struck twice on the back of the head while he was handcuffed in the driveway of his home. He said verbal and physical abuse continued at the University Park Police Department, where an officer choked him into uncon sciousness. After more beatings, Paschall said, he was dragged by his hair to a cell, where the officer pulled out a section of hair. The hair was admitted as evidence in the trial. Dallas County Sheriff Don Byrd testified Tuesday he has known Paschall for 35 years and went to Paschall’s home the day af ter the arrest “top tesy visit.” Byrd said, “Someof had been pulled om some spots on hira- and so forth — but Is member where they« Byrd said he later vis! chall at a hospital when ntist spent a week at l>eating. “The bruises by than really begun to shoi Byrd. “He was hurting, Former Dallas pt Robert D.
