United Press International Who was that man who blank ed the World Series champions Monday night? “He’s Fernando,” said the Cardinals’ Ken Oberkfell after Los Angeles Dodger ace Fer nando Valenzuela tossed a seven-hitter for an 8-0 triumph at St. Louis. “I’ve seen him throw better, but he’s a control pitcher and he’s always around the plate. “Once he gets the lead, hejust wants to stay ahead of the hitter and not walk anybody. He did that and they made the plays be hind him.” And who were those guys driving in half the Dodgers’ runs? They were newcomers Mike Marshall and Greg Brock, who are working on becoming the latest heroes in Los Angeles. Marshall hit his first home run of the year, a two-run shot, and Brock drove in two runs with a single and double. “Those two youngsters are trying so hard and they want to do the job so bad,” said Dodgers’ Manager Tom Lasorda. “We just have to keep them relaxed jilii Baker knocked out Andujai with a two-run shot in ik eighth. Guerrero and Dusty Baker also connected off Andujar to help the Dodgers extend their winning streak to three games. The loss was Andujar’s second straight, evening his re cord at 2-2 after a personal 12- game winning streak going back to last season. Andujar allowed a one-out single to Ken Landreaux in the first before retiring the next 1 1 batters.
