    Softball team takes two
After a sluggish start, the
T exas A&M women’s softball
team seems to have regained
the form that helped it win a
national championship in
1982.
The Aggies proved Thurs
day that playing team ball
pays big dividends as Texas
A&M hit, pitched and fielded
',its way to a double-header
.sweep of West Texas State 6-3
'and 7-6.
Pitching sensation Lori
Stoll again delivered for the
Aggie Ladies as she won the
first game giving up only five
hits while striking out nine.
In the second game, Stoll
again came through in the
clutch with a save behind Shan
McDonald’s four and a third
innings. McDonald is re
cuperating from a shoulder
injury and wasn’t quite as
overpowering as she has been
in the past. She gave up five
earned runs to WTSU.
Another key factor for the
Aggies was the rekindled fire
in the hitting department.
Texas A&M notched up 10
hits in the first game.
In the bottom of the fourth
inning, Texas A&M scored
four runs on four hits to kill
any hopes of a Buffalo rally.
The big blows in the inning
were back-to-back singles with
nobody out by Debbie Roll-
man, Gay McNutt and Josie
Carter. All three were moved
around the bases and scored.
In the second game, the
Aggie Ladies had a harder
time putting WTSU away as
the Buffaloes led the Aggies
throughout the game until
Texas A&M scored three runs
in the top of the seventh to get
the win.

(continued from page 17)
game should accomplish some
things that a day of practice
can’t.
“The biggest drawback (ab
out spring practice) is you re
playing yourself,’ Sherrill said.
“So you really won’t know how
good you are until you line up
and play somebody else.
“It’s (the game) a very unique
time because it’s in the middle of
spring practice. So it’ll give them
a chance to play against some
body that they haven’t played.”
Sherrill said he thinks the
game will be as successful as the
one last year, especially since it’s
during parents’ weekend. He
said Gary Kubiak, who w ill play
some at quarterback for the
alumni, will give that team some
added strength and enhance the
competition.
