WEATHERFORD — The
bodies of a Fort Worth area
teen-age boy and girl were
found early Saturday, shot in a
parked car belonging to the
boy’s father, authorities said.
“The Weatherford Police De
partment is in the process of in
vestigating any and all informa
tion they have acquired at this
point,” said Parker County Dis
trict Attorney Mac Smith. “We
intend to investigate all details in
order to apprehend whoever
committed the crime.”
Investigators identified the
victims as Vincent M. Tijerina
Jr., 16, and Michele Renna
Couch, 14. The Weatherford
High School students were
apparently on a date, officials
said.
The deaths represent the
second double homicide in six
weeks for the north Texas com
munity of 12,000, located just
west of Fort Worth.
“There was no reason at all
(for the killing),” said the boy’s
father, Vincent Sr., who found
the pair shortly before 7 a.m.
“He was the kind of boy who
didn’t get into any trouble.”

Mark Holcomb said.
“They talked for about 45 mb
nutes late Friday. They talked
about the situation with the (two
Texans). We had gotten an
assurance they will be released,
and that’s been formally indi
cated in the meeting with Cas
tro,” Holcomb said.
Holcomb said it was unclear if
Leland would be given a chance
to personally visit with the cou
ple before their planned return
to Houston at I p.m. CST
Monday.
“My understanding is they
will be released when Mickey is
ready to leave,” Holcomb said.
The couple was imprisoned in
separate jails in Cuba since
November. They apparently
were forced to make an
emergency landing on the
Caribbean Island as they flew
from the Cayman Islands to
Florida.
