Davis, however, told an en
tirely different story last week
when he testified he was forced
to go downtown and was tor
tured for several hours until he
talked. Davis said the informa
tion he gave was all a desperate
lie.
The trial, which continues to
day with the testimony of defen
dant Dale Bonura, Farrar’s part
ner, concerns the days following
the shooting death of patrolman
Gregory Neupert in the poor
Algiers section of the city.
Farrar, 31, told defense co
counsel Ralph Whalen he and
Bonura sought out Davis the
night of Nov. 11 after an anony
mous telephone caller said Davis
might know something about
Neupert’s death.
Davis agreed to go to head
quarters and once there admit
ted he was not at home the night
Neupert died, but insisted he
was not in the area when it hap
pened.
The witness said thai
point during the long
quest ioning he and Bom
pened to leave Davis
interview room fora
and returned to find
Oris Buckner, who was
secution’s star witness,)i
Davis.

attorney general said Monday.
Teri Flack of the Consumer
Protection Division, told the

that customers are virtually held
hostage until they agree to sign a
contract.
“Once thev're away from the
influence of these (sales) people,
they decide, ‘Hey, 1 don’t want
it,’” she said. “But by then, it's
usually too late.”
Flack said most of the com

into one of three categories:
high pressure saltfs tactics, mis
representation and prize prom
otional offerings.
