Riley scored 19 points and grab bed 10 rebounds to help the Aggies to their seventh confer ence victory against five losses. Baylor caught the Aggies off guard for much of the first half, as the Bears were able to get in side early for some easy points. The outside shooting of Baylor guard Glen Mays supplemented that inside game. The Bears took the opening tip and scored on a rebound layup by 6-8 center Ozell Hall. Forward Daryl Baucham, who scored a game-high 21 points, pushed the Baylor lead to 5-0 when he completed a 3-point play set up by Jimmie Gilbert’s futile attempt to stop Baucham’s dunk. The Aggies’ rally began after Coach Shelby Metcalf called time out with 6:53 left in the half. Trailing 22-17, Texas A&M cut the lead to three on a 14-footer by Jones. The Bears answered only once, on a 13- footjumper by Mays, before the Aggies pulled ahead. McHenry hit a turn-around jumper from the right side and was fouled by Baucham in the process.
