But South Texas growers are calling for a more stringent embargo to guard against a potential economic loss of hun dreds of millions of dollars. “If the canker spreads to Texas, it’ll make the Medfiy and Mexfly look insignificant,” said Les Whitlock, manager of the Texas Valley Citrus Committee. “That’s why we’d like to see im ports of Mexican citrus stopped for the entire country until we know more about this particular disease strain."
