Gene Head, chairman of the University Interscholastic League district committee and principal of South Grand Prairie High School, said Thursday that the two cases involved different UIL rules but both concerned student transfers and eligibility. The reinstatement of the victories followed rules interpreta tions issued Wednesday in Austin by the UIL judicial branch. Nimitz, No. 1 in its district, had forfeited seven victories because transfer paperwork for one player was not completed before he played. “The state committee changed the ruling,” Head said. “(They said) the paperwork could be processed anytime during the season. In the Grand Prairie case, Head said, six victories were forfeited because of a student who pre-registered at Grand Prairie and worked out with the football team for two days before school started.
