The burglar or burglars en tered through the sporting goods department and took four pistols and two rifles worth $2,000. The tricycle was built by Bryan Sullivan and Brian Rosenberger, both senior aerospace engineering stu- i dents. It will be ridden at the competition by Hans Schnied- er, manager of Cycles Etc. in College Station and a student at Sam Houston University in Huntsville. Sullivan discovered the idea for the tricycle more than a year ago in a bicycling maga zine and he and Rosenberger built the prototype. “Our goal was. to design a vehicle faster than a bicycle and easier to pedal,” Rosen berger said. Collins called Bentsen the “most liberal senator in the South,” and charged that Bent sen was the biggest spender in Congress and had “outspent both Ted Kennedy and George McGovern.” Speaking before a sparse crowd, Collins said that Bentsen had done more harm than good in his twelve years in the Senate. Bentsen’s vote for the windfall profits tax cost oil and gas com panies $50 billion and much of that came out of Texan’s pock ets, he said. Collins also accused Bentsen of being instrumental in shaping government policies during the Carter presidency that led to a jump in interest rates from 6.5 to 21.5 percent.
