I will go after Jaws and put a bomb in his mouth.” Johnson is beginning his seventh year with the Cowboys and that career has been less than smooth. Because he was not judged to be a starter, John- son told coach Tom Landry a is few years ago that he would just as soon be playing in a uniform with a different hue. But Johnson was too valuable to trade. After all, he kept show ing up in the end zone with the football. Johnson’s ego — some thing that seems to be built in with most wide receivers — was gradually soothed. And last year he signed a new contract that he admits is lucrative, particularly for a player that does not start. Besides that, the publicity he craves has started to come in lar ger chunks. He parlayed his own, distinctive end zone spike into a dance and the dance in spired a poster that is being dis tributed throughout the area. He is now embarking on a broadcasting career with a local television station. Johnson relishes the oppor tunity to be seen and to express his views. And his views con cerning football would — like his personality — be worthy of a psychological probe. “Football is good for a person like me,” saidjohnson. “You can go out there and take out your aggressions on other people and do all these things that on the street would be illegal. But on the football Field they are per fectly legal. “You can do all these things and forget about feeling bad. You can hit people and then go home at night and say, ‘gosh, I feel good.’ “I’m an aggressive person in everything I do.” That aggression, said, once crossed the another category. Johnson line into “I think it was my second year with the Cowboys and I was re turning kicks,” he remembers. “I was tackled by two guys and they stood me up and this other guy came in with his elbow and slammed it under my face mask and cracked my nose. ...MOgr VET&RA him and said, read he had to haves.
