■ Forming the bootline, the tra
dition of seniors welcoming the
Texas A&M University football
team back from halftime, soon
may be abolished if students do
noi cooperate, head yell leader
Tom Joseph said 1 uesdav.
He discouraged students
1 coming down for bootline
iy are not seniors. Members
itudent Government will
establish a senior ring check line
at the south entrance to the
field. The purpose is to ensure
that only seniors participate.
“It’s up to them (the students)
whether we can have boodine,”
he said. “We want them to come
to bootline, but they need to be
on time.”
Joseph said students on the
third oeck should move to the
track surrounding Kyle Field
while the Aggie Band is per
forming. Students on the second
deck should leave their seats
halfway through the perform
ance, and first deck students
should leave as the band is
finishing its halftime show.
Yell leaders, Texas A&M
Corps of Cadets officers of the
day and Student Government
representatives will be stationed
throughout the estimated two to
three thousand students in the
bootline to organize it and keep
seniors off the football field.
“The Athletic Department is
very cooperative,” Joseph said.
“Coach Jackie Sherrill wants the
track cleared as soon as possible
and wants it done efficiendy.”
The Corps will not form a
spirit line for the team between
Wofford Cain Hall and Kyle
Field before games this year, he
said.
Sherrill asked civilian stu
dents to form the spirit line at
4:20 p.m. Saturday, Joseph said.
