Browning Jr. against his lifelong friend and business partner, Pat Holloway. Jane Browning contends Holloway swindled her and her five children out of millions she and her husband made in Hum ble Exploration Co., which suc cessfully penetrated the Austin Chalk fields near Giddings in the early 1970s. Holloway counters that the Brownings are engaging in a “brazen conspiracy” to seize the business he built. Browning, who received a $400,000-a-month inheritance from his mother’s oil wealth, formed the company as a tax shelter in 1974 with Holloway, who had attended high school and Yale University with Browning and was Browning’s attorney, Mrs. Browning testi fied 1st week. Browning died of a heart attack in 19/6, and Mrs. Brown ing left Holloway in charge of her husband’s business holdings .until 1978, when she asked him when she would see a returnon her husband’s $4 million invest ments in the oil venture. “Well, out of the blue he im mediately blew up and told mel was stupid if 1 thought for one minute he was working for mei I she testified. “Humble washisil would get no monies.
