Princess Anne target
of Irish demonstrators
United Press International
DENVER — A small group of
demonstrators carried signs and
shouted “England get out oflre-
land” outside a church where
Princess Anne was attending
services while on a U.S. goodwill
tour.
Before the princess arrived at
9:00 a.m. Sunday, about 20 Irish
sympathizers stayed across the
street from St. John’s Episcopal
Cathedral, quietly circling with
signs that read, “Don’t Support
the English Murderers” and
“Princess Anne Accessory to
Murder.”
When the Princess stepped
from her car in front of the
cathedral, she was greeted with
shouts of “England get out of
Ireland” and “British mur
derers.”
The protesters represented
two groups and a handful of pri
vate citizens, said Bob McGur-
ran, secretary of the Irish
Northern Aid Committee.
McGurran said the protest
wanted to let her know what
they feel about the occupation of
Northern Ireland.

the problems and then put you
back together.”
Mrs. Denton, who has not left
the hospital’s waiting room for
20 days, had said doctors had
little hope for her son’s survival.
But Dr. John Greene refrained
Sunday from saying that the boy
was dying, saying he was critical
ly ill and refusing to speculate on
Denton’s chances for recovery.
Richard who has been lapsing
in and out of consciousness for
almost three weeks, awoke brief
ly last week and tearfully told his
mother he hoped to see his
father one last time.
Davidson County, Fla., Sher
iff Fate Thomas made sure the
boy would get his wish even
though Florida and Tennessee
officials refused to bear the cost
of transporting and guarding
Denton.
Thomas said donations have
been pouring into the Sheriffs
Department to pay Denton’s
transportation costs and about
100 Metro Sheriffs Department
employees have volunteered to
sit with the father during his
visit.
Greene said the boy had been
treated successfully for Rocky
Mountain spotted fever but has
been struggling with complica
tions — mainly kidney failure
and severe internal bleeding —
for almost a week.
