An estimated 45 percent of all eye injuries are from home accidents, Virginia S. Boyce said. Industry requires protec tive eyewear, but too many peo ple do not use the same precau tions in eye-threatening activi ties at home, she said. The top causes of eye injuries at home involve home construc tion materials and hand and power tools, Boyce said. Power mowers often throw rocks, sticks and other ground debris toward the face with great velocity, she said. To prevent accidents, the society recommends wearing in dustrial quality safety glass while mowing the lawn or working with tools and construction materials. The society also re commends chemical safety gog gles when using household che micals such as strong cleaners, garden fertilizers and aerosol products. n e e t y e FINEST OPTICAL QLAHT'f DISTORTION!
