Tin athletes say they’re hav ing fun seeing all their old team mates and finding out who can and, can’t still display skills be tween the goal lines. ’y “We’re enjoying it,” said Ted Lamp, a former linebacker who won] the 1974 Aggie Heart Award. The annual award goes to the senior athlete who best displays the intangibles of effort, determination, desire, courage and competitiveness. . “It’s good getting together with the guys you played with and the guys you haven’t ever met,” Lamp said. ■Lamp said the fun should, perhaps in a slightly decreased Mount, carry over into the game with the Aggies. I “It may stop quick, but we’ll still be a bunch of easy-going guys having a good time,” he laughed. Milstead, the Aggies’ quarter back during 1957-59, took the same attitude. "We’re having a blast. It’s fun MA&M tops Bpzorback I tennis team j Alter having lost to No. 1 TCt Wednesday in the first day of the Southwest Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women tournament in Austin, the 1 Texas Aggies defeated Arkansas 5-4 Thursday morning. Fernandez, Texas A&M’s only qualifier for the SWAI AW individual competition, was to have played in her opening match today at 1 p.m. In Thursday’s matches, Amy Gloss played in the No. 1 spot, defeating Susan Incardone 6-0, 6-4. Jackie Sherrill seeing all these younger guys like Ed Hargett,” he said while jokingly pointing a finger at Hargett. “I used to watch him when I was a little kid.” Milstead’s joke is obvious, since Hargett played football here during the late 1960s. Garth Ten Napel, a lineback er here until 1975, says he’s hap py to be part of what has been called a family reunion of sorts. “It feels good seeing my old friends,” Ten Napel said. “A lot of us became so close we’re like family. It’s really great seeing a lot of the older players, too.” Ten Napel also expressed a positive attitude about Sherrill and his new staff. “I think it’s really great,” he said. “Hopefully this game will bring a lot of support to his program, and that’s what he (Sherrill) needs. I think he’s enough of a leader to turn the A&M program around.” Sherrill said that after the game, awards will be presented to the Aggie varsity’s most im proved offensive and defensive players. In addition, he said, the John David Crow Award and Charlie Krueger Award will be given to members of the team. The alumni athletes chosen the most outstanding offensive and defensive players for the game will receive rings as well. Sherrill said that during the game, both squads will stay in one defense so that injuries will be less likely. The Aggie varsity will handle every phase of the kicking game, he said, including punts, kickoffs and downffeld coverage on returns. Quarterbacks for both teams will wear redjerseys, and will not be rushed in the backfield as heavily as during a normal spring game. t 822-3300 ¥ ¥ ¥ * * * * m * 7:30 12:05* * SILENT RAGE SKYWAY TWIN *Sun-Thur (No late show) 2000 E.29th EAST Chuch Norris ront Huntsvil il senior seas* to attend Tem calf has sigad iree from wii ting J and X 10:25 ^ Cheech and Chong J NICE DREAMS ★ r★★★★★★★ WEST 8:30 12:00* FORBIDDEN WORLD and 10:15 BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS and a spoil i A&M weiglii ■ athletes ulioi ililv foranalio Id later in ifci e weightlifting! dto hostthel! • powerlifting but has nit er it will do» ub does nmli it lias been* note recogniiw !iat.
