College 823-8051 by John P. Lopez Battalion Reporter A mock court trial designed to inform apartment owners and managers of legal aspects on running apartment complexes will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Ramada Inn North. The trial is sponsored by the Texas Apartment Association and will feature two attorneys from the Bryan-College Station area in a landlord-tenant case in volving either eviction or money owed by the tenant. The exact case has yet not been deter mined. Rene Sledge, assistant mana ger of Willow Oaks Apartments, said the mock trial will he impor tant since there are several potential problems in a land lord-tenant relationship. “Sometimes people gel angry when they are given an apart ment which, in their opinion, is uninhabitable, or they don’t get back their full deposit when they leave,” she said. Sledge said landlords also have problems when a tenant re fuses to leave after being evicted, or refuses to pay rent. “The trial will be very impor tant,” she said, “particularly to apartment owners who are nbt kept up to date. As a manager, I have never been to court and am unaware of the procedure, so it will help me very much too.” The trial will be open to all members of the B-CS chapter of the TAA and to various busines ses associated with local apart ment complexes. A dinner will precede the trial.
