The Minnesota Golden Gophers, in town for the tourna ment, went down in defeat twice to the Aggies, losing the first game of a double-header 14-0 and the second game 3-0. With the tourney rained out, the two teams decided to play the games Sunday afternoon at a still rain-soaked Travis Park in Bryan. Shan McDonald pitched a three-hitter for Texas A&M in the first game, but she was aided by an offensive attack that scored 14 runs on 19 hits. Lori Stoll pitched a one-hitter in the second game and her teammates picked up three runs, all in the bottom of the fourth. Stoll struck out nine batters and walked one, improving her record to 13-3. McDonald’s re cord is 12-0. Mary Lou Youngblood was 3-for-4 at the plate with 3 RBI in the first game, and Karen Guer rero was 3-for-3 and Carrie Au- stgen was 3-for-4 with three RBI. The Aggies scored seven runs in the fourth on eight hits. In the second game, Young blood was 2-for-3, and Roshele. Friudenberg and Linda Lancas ter had RBI hits. Iva Jackson scored on a passed ball for the Aggies’ other run. Everything we hit dropped in. They just caught us at the wrong time.” Brock said he was pleased with the way his team hit the ball, and he said the fact that the play ers hadn’t played in a while might have had something to do with their success. South Carolina, which was entered in the Aggie Invitation al, had to leave for home Satur day. Minnesota was able to stay and play both Sam Houston State University and Texas A&M. The Gophers were 5-8 going into the double-header with the Aggies. Saturday, Minnesota lost twice to the SHSU Lady Bearkats.
