ATASCOSA COUNTY HOMETOWN CLUB: Club will
meet at the Hall of Fame at 8 p.m. Bring clues if you have not
paid.
I AMU ANTHROPOLOGY CLUB: Dr. N.D. Thomas will
lecture on Ethnography of Mexican markets at 7:30 p.m. in 301
Bolton.
HUGHES HALL HEIST FOR HANDICAPPED: Hughes
Hall will be collecting donations for the Special Olympic s in the
MSC and in front of Sbisa.
FAMECT: There will be a general meeting at 7:30 p.m. in 302
Rudder.
CAMPUS CRUSADE FOR CHRIST. Leadership training
class will be at 7:30 p.m. in 108 Har rington. Everyone is wel
come.
CIRCLE K: Final planning for the trip to District Convention and
Banquet plans will be discussed at 7 p.m. in 308 Rudder. All
students are welcome.
SURF CLUB: Surfing movie “Crystal Eyes” will be shown at 7:30

ALTERNATIVES TO ABORTION: KAMU presents a 28
minute film “Assignment Life” a film exploring both sides of
the abortion issue today at noon, Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and
Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.

UNITED CAMPUS MINISTRY: Friday night Bible study will

HILLEL CLUB: Services will be at 8 p.m. at the Hillel Founda
tion. The film “We Were German Jews” wall be shown at 8:30
p.m.
PENBERTHY CELEBRATION OF SPORTS: 48-hour con
tinuous softball tounament will be from noon on Friday to noon
on Sunday.
LATTER-DAY SAINT STUDENT ASSOCIATION:
Sandwich seminar with Earl Deschamps speaking on “ The
Glory of God is Intelligence” at noon at 100 Dexter.
TEXAS DESIGNER CRAFTSMEN: In conjunction with the
MSC Craft Shop will have daily tours at Rudder Exhibit Hall
from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. At the Juried Arts Exhibit, 31
(statewide) artists will be represented.
ECUATORIAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION: Meeting to
prepare for international week at 6:30 p.m. in 624 Harrington.
MARANATHA CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP: Evangelist
Bill McCaig will speak in 601 Rudder Friday, Saturday and
Sunday.
ACCOUNTING SOCIETY: Annual luau and dance at 7:30

Man involved in smuggling
ar copters pleads guilty

DALLAS — A man who said
j he unwittingly became involved
in a scheme to smuggle 15 fully
armed Cobra helicopters out of
the United States could be sent
enced to five years in prison.
Carl M. Kulingian, 34, of En-
Jcino, Calif., pleaded guilty Tues
day to conspiracy to export pro
ducts of war.
He told U.S. District Judge
Robert Porter that he remained
I in the scheme to smuggle $15
million load to Iraq once he
learned what it was because he
I feared for his life.
Porter set an April 14 sen-
j tencing date for Kulingian, head
I of a Los Angeles executive em
ployment agency, who faces a
maximum sentence of five
years.
Kulingian was one of seven
men named in a March 5 Dallas
| federal grand jury indictment
alleging that the men conspired
I to smuggle the helicopters f rom
the Bell Helicopter-Textron
plant in Amarillo to Iraq. Cus
toms agents said one suspect also
mentioned the possibility of sell
ing the helicopters to Libya or
[South Africa.
Kulingian was arrested with
| two other men, Alfonso Lopez-
Quesare, 41, of Spain and Paulo
Marcucci, 37, of Italy — in a raid
on an Amarillo motel room.
All three men were transfer
red to a Dallasjail and face a May
17 trial date.
Thomos O’Connor, 51, and
Max Field, in his mid-60s, both
of Los Angeles, w'ere arrested in
California two weeks ago.
