Rezoning to highlight council
agenda at 7 p.m. meeting tonight
Rezoning throughout the city
will be the main topic of discus
sion for the College Station City
Council meeting Thursday at 7
p.m. at the College Station City
Hall.
No discussion topics are on
the agenda for the meeting.
Proposals for rezoning in
clude changing an 8.8 acre tract
on University Drive to town-
houses zoning and changing
Emerald Forest to a single fami
ly district. Also a .81 acre tract on
Downing Road and FM 2818
will be on the agenda for discus
sion.
A proclamation declaring
March 2 as Texas Flag Day also
will be announced.
Mayor Gary Halter’s secret
ary said the meeting is expected
to be a short one because of the
lack of discussion topics on the
agenda.

to speak
banquet
Texas A&M President Frank
E. Vandiver will be the featured
speaker at the Bryan-College
Station Chamber of Commerce
annual banquet tonight at 7 in
the Brazos Center. Tickets cost
$10.
Vandiver’s speech is ex
pected to be similar to his State
of the University address, which
he gave before the Brazos Coun
ty A&M Club last week.
In the State of the University
address, he focused on the Uni-
