international OPEC oil production falls, competition, prices blamed United Press International VIENNA, Austria — OPEC oil production has fallen to the lowest level in 10 years, a leading oil company official said today. Peter Mieling, director gen eral of Shell Austria, said pil pro duction in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries dropped by 28 percent between 1977 and 1981. Production in 1981 dropped 16 percent from 1980 figures, he said. “OPEC’s oil production has thus dropped to its lowest ebb in the past 10 years,” Mieling said. Mieling gave two reasons for the drop in OPEC production figures — shrinking demand on the world market and higher production in non-OPEC coun tries such as Mexico, Norway and Britain. Mieling said OPEC’s oil price structure is endangered as a re sult of the shrinking demand that is likely to continue in the next few years. OPEC set the benchmark price for Arabian light crude oil at $34 a barrel at its last meeting at Abu Dhabi in December. Henryk Jankowski told re porters Tuesday about his meet ing with the detained leader of the Solidarity trade union, sus pended since martial law was im posed Dec. 13. “It is an imposed rest but un doubtedly it will have a positive influence on the service of a man who is thinking how to restore peace in the country,” he said. An explosion ripped through a worker’s hotel room late Mon day in the southwest city of Wroclaw, killing F. Mieczyslaw, 21, a “worker” who police said apparently was handling the ex plosive, the official news agency PAP said. Wroclaw is a major Solidarity stronghold. The explosion came two days after the reported dis covery and defusing of a 13- pound time bomb at a gas station in Lubin, 25 miles from Wroclaw. Jankowksi read a statement from Walesa repudiating underground leaflets allegedly written by him calling for pas sive resistance to martial law. “All leaflets appearing with my signature were fabricated and have a provocative charac ter,” the statement said. “My conception of the struggle is dif ferent and it will be explained by y colleg ho can only |er draft anc Last sumn teamn in the ‘jemral Ill pgue in Pe Ktions he dp his chan Itnis June’s . ,, “Some of t me on my release. ad talked t) Jankowski came toH others 1 from Gdansk Tuesday aB> g ennai a three-hour private sessi«L e| . a y ee Walesa at an undisdosBL „ u ., s :ir tion.
