Rutford, executive vice chancel lor of the University of Nebras ka in Lincoln, has been appointed president of the Uni- veristy of Texas at Dallas. Rutford, 49, was appointed Friday to succeed Dr. Bryce Jor dan, UTD’s president of 10 years. Jordan was appointed ex ecutive vice chancellor for academic affairs with the UT system in September 1981. Rutford dealt primarily with the expansion of research at the University of Nebraska. The downed helicopter car ried Larry Nelson and Glen Eyre, both employees of the Col orado Division of Wildlife, and Eyre’s wife. Rescuers spotted the three from the air Friday after Nelson radioed his position to search planes. Ground crews on snow- . mobiles were unable to reach them because of deep snow.
