Additional territorial sales executives will be kept on the payroll, but have been asked to work from their homes. The re duction of 117 sales personnel will be done by ability rather than seniority, spokesmen for the airline said. The fired vice presidents were Raymond Chanaud, public relations; David Cummings, marketing planning; Donald Fraser; and John Richard, field sales. Braniff officials said that in the closing of 20 city ticket offices, the airline would rely more on travel agents. Ticket office firings will be conducted according to rules in the airline’s union contracts, the officials said. They refused to say how many of those employees would be fired. The executive layoffs began last year when the jobs of board Vice Chairman Russell Thayer, Marketing Vice President Neal Robinson and Promotion Vice President Thomas King were eliminated. Since last summer, Braniff also has laid off more than 2,000 pilots and flight attendants and the airline’s workforce is now a third smaller than the 15,000 people on the payroll in January Reporter’s query ends photo sesson fke) >130 mg. United Press International || WASHINGTON — Deputy White House Press Secretary Tarry Speakes Wednesday threatened to bar reporters from President Reagan’s Oval Office meetings with foreign leaders unless they stop asking questions during photo sessions. | The threat came after ABC News correspondent Sam JDonaldson asked Reagan a question about Cuba during a Sprief picture-taking session be fore Reagan’s private meeting .with visiting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak. “Is Cuba getting dangerous again?” Donaldson asked. Reagan shrugged and smiled. Speakes then ordered reporters and camera crews out of the office. “That’s embarrassing,” Speakes told Donaldson. Speakes said he had not de cided to refuse to take reporters into the Oval Office, but said it is possible in the future. “It was embarrassing for the president of the United States and the President of Egypt,” he said. “We have a rule. These are rules that correspondents have to live by.” Several months ago, the White House instructed repor ters not to question Reagan dur ing picture-taking sessions in the Oval Office.
