Two professors promoted by
the Texas A&M University Sys
tem Board of Regents were
“very pleased” Wednesday by
the change in their status.
At its Tuesday meeting, the
Board of Regents named Dr.
Carlton Maxson an associate
dean in the College of Science,
and promoted Dr. Davis A.
Fahlquist from assistant to asso
ciate dean in the College of
Geosciences.
Maxson, a mathematics pro
fessor, said he was pleased to be
asked to serve as associate dean,
a position in which he will assist
the dean in administrative
duties. He said he felt the prom
otion was “quite an honor.”
A member of the Texas A&M
faculty since 1969, Maxson is a
former assistant dean of the Col
lege of Science and a former in
terim head of the Department of
Mathematics.

tant dean in charge of the Geos
ciences undergraduate teaching
program since 1979; his promo
tion, he said, was made to reflect
