Students who will be looking for
cards and letters from home
need to be sure parents have
their correct mailing addresses
— including the proper ZIP
codes.
Local post office officials said
they see many pieces of mail
each week that may not reach
their destination.
“The major problem we have
with the mail is that either no
ZIP code or the wrong ZIP code
is on the letter,” said Bennett
Blake, supervisor of the Univer
sity Mail Service.
The mail, he said, simply
comes to the wrong department.
The University Mail Service de
livers mail only to departments
and staff and faculty members,
Blake said, and does not deliver
mail to dorm rooms or to stu
dents.
Blake said when it is possible,
the mail service tries to write the
correct ZIP code on the letter to
insure that it reaches the student
without much delay. However,
he said, when the mail service
does this, there is at least a two-
day delay.
After the correct ZIP codqjs
put on the letter, it is then sent
back to the College Station Post
Office to be processed again, he
said.
C.L. Mateck, postmaster of
the College Station Post Office,
said that after the mail comes
back to them, it can take five to
10 days for the student to re
ceive his letter.
Because of this, it is vital for
each student to know what his
ZIP code is. Zip codes for the
Bryan-College Station area are:
— 77840 is for Krueger,
Dunn, Aston and Mosher Halls;
College Station street addresses
and rural routes; and the Red
mond Shopping Center Post
Office.
— 77841 for boxes in the Col
lege Station Post Office
— 77843 for University mail
only. This includes mail to de
partments and staff and faculty
members.
— 77844 for boxes in Aggie-
land Station Post Office, located
in the Memorial Student Center
— 77801 for Bryan residents.

heavily exposed to the herbicide
Agent Orange in Vietnam, to
determine the long-term physic
al and psychological effects of
the exposure.
