Male inmate wants
sex change surgery
United Press International
MADISON, Wis. — A 47-year-
old inmate at the Waupun State
Prison wants a sex change opera
tion and has filed suit in federal
court to get the state to pay for it.
Sundrea Dawn Peterson, for
merly known as Ernest Peterson,
said Wisconsin is denying him
adequate medical care by denying
him the operation.
In a suit filed in federal court he
said he has had a “sexual identity
problem since childhood.”
In 1978 the State Division of
Corrections said it would not per
mit sex reassignment surgery for
someone who is imprisoned. But
Peterson says he is receiving hor
mone therapy because of his sex
identity problem.

PHILADELPHIA — A Uni
versity of Pennsylvania fraternity
with a history of rowdiness has
been disbanded despite protests
from the frat president that mem
bers have “made a real effort to
behave themselves. ”
Penn officials have cited Kappa
Sigma — one of the Ivy League
school’s largest fraternities — for
turning up at a Halloween party
dressed in Ku Klux Klan costumes
and making racial slurs to black
students.
The fraternity, most of whose
members are athletes, was placed
on suspension in February 1980.

United Press International
LOS ANGELES — A black
market ring of poachers and retail

black hears in the past year and
sold the gall bladders, claws and
paws of animals to Asians for medi

and Game officials.
A seven-month undercover in

of one man Tuesday and the
issuing of arrest warrants for sev

Dawson.
The unindentified man who
was arrested is charged with
“buying and selling bear parts ’ —
a misdeameanor carrying a max

An average three-ounce gall
bladder sells for about $100 an
ounce, Dawson said. The organs,
sold mostly to Koreans, are dried
and eaten under the impression
