Michele Rowland, RHA vice president, said the meeting will acquaint freshmen with the asso ciation and explain how they can become involved in RHA. A representative from GTE will also be there to explain the Uni versity’s new phone system. He will answer questions on cost and available phone options, Rowland said. Student Body President Ken Johnson is scheduled to speak ab out residence hall surveys con ducted by student government representatives. They will survey dormitory residents to discover their views on campus issues, Rowland said. Johnson will ex plain more about this survey de signed to help representatives do a better job, Rowland said. Plans for RHA’s Almost Any thing Goes, a United Way fund raiser, will be discussed, as well as plans for next week’s campus-wide fund drive, Rowland said. Awards are made for a year with possible extensions through second year; senior applicants may request shorter tenures. Stipends range from $22,400 year for recent Ph.Ds to about $50,000 a year for senior associ ates. Allowances are made for reloca tion and for limited professional travel during tenure. The host federal laboratory provides the associate programmatic support including facilities, support ser vices and necessary equipment. Applications to the Research Council must be postmarked no later than Jan. 15, 1982. Awards will be announced in April. Information on specific search opportunities and federal laboratories, as well as application materials, may be obtained from the Associateship Office.
