Both session will be taught by the Red Cross. The first session will be held on Tuesdays, Sept. 22 through Nov. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. in 127 Academic Building. The second session will be held on Thursdays, Sept. 24 through Nov. 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the same room. The only cost of the course is $2.50 for a textbook. Interested persons can call the Red Cross office at 822-2157 or Karin Whittredge at 696-0807 to sign up for the sessions. The classes are open to the pub lic, but will be limited to 25 people. WALTER CARROLL Battalion Repo' ter The Florida Key deer popula tion, an endangered species, is in creasing as the construction of subdivisions creates new food sources, a Texas A&M University wildlife and fisheries sciences pro fessor said Thursday. Dr. Nova Silvy, who spent three years in the Florida Keys on a study of the deer’s behavioral habits, presented a talk on the en dangered Key deer before the Rio Brazos Audubon Society Thurs day night at the Brazos Valley Museum. The deer is the smallest race of the White Tail deer in North America. Silvy said the deer, which in habits 6,000-acre Big Fine Key is land, only numbered around 25 in 1957 and now presently numbers between 350 and 400. The study which was conducted on a 1,400 acre refuge on the is land was used as a life study to save the endangered deer.
