fter playing for the Philadel-

forced Reaves from the game and
into a rehabilitation program re
commended by the Minnesota

the 1980 season and became a

Now he finds himself as the Oil

being acquired only four weeks
ago after Stabler retired unex
pectedly.
“Some of the guys still call me
Dan,” Reaves said Tuesday.
“When coach told the team I was
the No. 1 quarterback today, he
introduced me as John Reaves.’ I
guess John’ wasn’t enough.”
However, Reaves is aware the
Oilers must obtain another quar
terback before the start of the
season.
“Coach (Ed) Biles said in the
team meeting today that going af
ter Stabler was the team’s top
priority. I’ve got all of that to con
tend with, but I’m not listening to
those kinds of voices,” he said.
