^ ALBUQLIERt^UE, N.M. — A mail-order “doctor whose
flourishing practice in Albuquerque attracted lots of patients, also
attracted the attention of the authorities.
1 Ron L. Reid s “naturopathy practice produced few complaints,
according to Assistant District Attorney I loward Anderson, but he has
been charged anyway, with practicing medicine without a license.
1 Reid, 44, of Lubbock, Texas, received a degree in 1976 from
Benadean University in Las Vegas, Nev. Since then the school has
been forbidden to sell degrees in that state.
S Authorities said that for a while, he had a thriving practice in
Albuquerque, where he performed pelvic exams and pap smear tests,
and dispensed thyroid pills and “Dr. Reid s vitamins.
B “There wasn’t a hell of a lot of complaints, Anderson said. “Some of
the people who went to him took the vitamins and said they never felt
better.
B Authorities said they believe Reid is in Texas, but they expect him to
return to Albuquerque for arraignment in District Court within two
weeks.
U “He never claimed he was a medical doctor, but he was personally
giving out medicine prescriptions, Anderson said.
