The company has drilled at least 45 consecutive oil and gas wells without hitting a dry hole since June 1980, said Jim Hollrah, vice president for financial and legal affairs. He said they hit one dry hole out of 43 wells attempted in the previous fiscal year. “I certainly won’t be cocky enough to suggest this type of thing could go on indefinitely, ’’ Hollrah said. “But it’s been a very good year.” The company’s earnings have quadrupled since 1977. In 1978, Sage Energy earned $2.8 million in after-tax income, and although fiscal 1981 income has not been made official, Hollrah estimates it at about $12 million. He said anyone who invested $1,000 in the com pany when it went public in 1977 would now have $70,000 in stock. “We’ve always had a good track record,"i said. “It’s a combination of luck and a lotol# enced people. Sage Energy was organized by formeroilct executive-turned-wildcatter K.K. Amini, j formed the company and remains its preskl majority stockholder. Hollrah attributes the company’s suecessfc ni’s conservative selection of drilling sites,) great deal of luck. Hollrah said the company will probably! excess of 60 wells, mostly in West Texas inlbei Chalk and south Texas. “The price of oil will not affect the what we’ve planned," Hollrah said. “Itill down a whole lot before it affects our drillinip Almost as impressive as its drilling rcconl ? The court, without written comment, upheld a lower court decision awarding Dorothy Mogford of Menard County a divorce and property settlement along with $20,000 for personal injuries resulting from abuse by her former husband, Lorenzo Mog ford. The case is the first time in Texas a personal injury suit filed by one spouse against another has been combined with a divorce action. A jury in the combined divorce and personal injury suit awarded her $20,000 in actual da but no punitive damages, and granted tbe and property settlement. In his appeal, Mogford contended the was wrong in awarding damages for injuii tained by his wife during their marriage The Court of Civil Apjx*als rejected tkj ment, however, saying in its opinion, Tbei law disability that prohibits one spouse liwi ing suit for grievances against the other time been in retreat in this state. “A woman is no longer viewed as an appd her husband.
