AUSTIN — A Corpus Christi
legislator says the attempt on
President Reagan's life is the most
convincing evidence that legisla
tion is needed to ensure people do
not get away with murder—parti
cularly of legislators.
Rep. Ken Riley, R-Corpus
Christi, has introduced a bill mak
ing it a capital offense to kill a
legislator.
“We generally don't rate for
assassination attempts but you
never know when they might get
off the president and start working
on the legislators,” Riley said.
“If anybody shoots me, I want
them to face capital murder
charges.”
