STRETCHING
THE LIMITS
Revolutionary breakthroughs in technology are rare.
Most of today’s technology is the result of evolution,
the application of hum^p ingenuity to the solution of
practical problems. At Fluor we apply engineering skills
to achieve evolutionary improvements in the energy
industry. We have contributed a number of “firsts” to
modern process technology.
Our work in the design of refineries, gas processing
plants, shale oil facilities and tar sands projects offers
a challenging future as we strive for further
breakthroughs.
If you are graduating with a degree in Mechanical,
Chemical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, we can offer
you the resources and support to become an energy
engineer. Our in-house MBA and training programs
supplement your engineering knowledge. Our training
helps bridge the gap between school and industry so
you can handle the diverse challenges of domestic and
international process technology. The rest is up to you.
If you would like to know more about career
opportunities at Fluor, please send your resume to:
Karen Sievers, Fluor Engineers & Constructors, Inc.,

DENVER — Mountain Bell
says vandals apparently have be
come bored with merely snipping
telephone cords, and have taken
to carting the entire booths away.
Cyndi Evans, Mountain Bell
spokeswoman, said about 50 pay
telephones and booths had been
stolen in the past six months, most
of them in the northwest part of
the city.
She speculated the thieves
were augmenting their income
from coin box pilferage by selling
the booths for scrap aluminum.
“We don’t know for sure that
they’re being scrapped for alumi
num, but we’ve never gotten any
of the booths back,” she said
Saturday. “If they’re not scrap
ping them, we’d find them.’’
Evans said it cost Mountain
Bell about $600 to replace a booth,
and $400 to install a new pay
phone. She said stolen equipment
and the resulting loss in revenue
cost the Bell System $2.6 million
nationwide last year.
In addition to the economic im
pact, Evans said phone company
officials were worried that the
theft of a pay telephone could
jeopardize someone needing a
phone in an emergency.
“When a public phone gets
swiped, it takes away the
emergency service,” she said.
“Someone could be bleeding and
in need of help and they can’t use
the phone. That concerns us, too.”
