PASADENA — A spokesman for a
chemical company says his firm is
cooperating with Louisiana officials
investigating chemical dumping
along a Calcasieu Parish highway,
Louisiana officials Wednesday
said a truck from Texas dumped up to
2,000 gallons of hazardous chemicals
on a rural road near Dequincy, La.
State officials said the truck was
hauling butadiene and butene from a
Petrotex Inc. refinery in Pasadena to
Good Hope Refineries, near New
Orleans.
George Jackson, a spokesman for
Petrotex, a Tenneco subsidiary, said
the company has not been accused
by Louisiana officials and in fact is
working with authorities in the in
vestigation.
Jackson stressed the company no
longer owned the material after it left
the Pasadena plant because the che
micals were sold to the Industrial
Solvents Corp.
“(That) means that once that truck
was loaded and hauled away from our
plant, that liquid no longer belongs
to Petrotex — it belongs to Indi
Solvents and is being transported!

has announced plans to purchase 1’

cost of $25 million each.
