BRAZOS Savings COLLEGE STATION: Texas Ave. at Southwest Parkway/696-2800 Main Office: 2800 Texas Avenue/Bryan/779-2800 Freedom denied murder suspect United Press International AMARILLO — A district judge Wednesday denied a writ of habeas corpus and a request to be freed from jail by a man whose wife’s clothed, dismembered body was found scat tered throughout the city. Although no charges have been filed against Floyd Monroe Baker, 38, authorities have held him in the Potter County Jail for investigation of murder. An attorney for Baker requested Wednesday’s writ of habeas corpus hearing before 251st District Judge Naomi Harney to determine whether authorities should be forced to release the suspect. Parts of a body, tentatively identi fied as Linda Sue Baker, 33, were found Monday near an auto parts store. An attendant at the wrecking yard was waiting on a man when the cus tomer’s son saw a dog dragging a se vered, recognizable head into the driveway, authorities said. The attendant forced the dog to drop the head and called deputies. A sheriff’s department identifica tion technician said the skull had been crushed. Justice of the Peace Roy Byrd said he was sure the woman was Linda Baker because the head was well- preserved, and a picture of Mrs. Baker taken before she left her home showed “it was evident it was Linda Baker. ” Potter County Sheriff’T.L. Baker said additional tests on the body are necessary, however, before a posi tive identification can be made. Parts of a woman’s body, including two forearms and the lower torso and legs, were found later in separate locations by deputies and police, ling 3 Oh, yc 'ou stum [ter, dum] into a ci loffee — |ur headac ound fa licted to i that c iee, tea, id even so :f drugs • harmful ’he May fjew said, lanifests mges, slei ,/al symj ft substanc [ rapid or itheadedi I’arious i Iwn possil intake fects, an sast disea: but painful 1 fVarning 1 ring caffe |sed. igder’s hunter Dr ence of caffe Ugesic dn roven safe ■Vigder sa ie inclusior who used K-9 Corps search.
