AUSTIN — Sen. Lloyd Doggett,
D-Austin, started action Monday on
a bill that might give state employees
an emergency pay raise as early as
February.
Doggett said his bill did not spe
cify an amount because he wants to
see how much money will be avail
able, but said he wants more than the
3.4 percent hike the governor sup
ports.
“Unless we pay state employees
appropriate salaries, we ll continue
to experience a 30 percent turnover
rate,” he said.
