JOB OPPORTUNITY
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
EARN OVER $840 A MONTH
RIGHT THROUGH YOUR SENIOR YEAR
IF YOU’RE A JUNIOR OR A SENIOR MAJORING IN MATH, PHYSICS OR
ENGINEERING, THE NAVY HAS A PROGRAM YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT.
It’s called the Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate - Collegiate Program (NUPOC-C for short) and if
you qualify, you can earn as much as $840 a month right through your senior year. Then after 16
weeks of Officer Candidate School, you’ll receive an additional year of advanced technical education.
This would cost you thousands of $$$$ in a civilian school, but in the Navy, we pay you.
And at the end of the year of training, you’ll receive a $3000 cash bonus. It isn’t easy. There are fewer
than 400 openings and only one of every six applicants will be selected. But if you make it, you’ll have
qualified for an elite engineering training job program. With unequaled hands-on responsibility, a
$32,000 salary in four years, and gilt-edged qualifications for jobs in private industry should you
decide to leave the Navy later.
(But we don’t think you’ll want to).
WE’LL BE INTERVIEWING ON CAMPUS IN THE MSC ON OCT. 21, 22 aAND 23RD

GALVESTON — A lawyer has ac
cused Sen. A.R. “Babe” Schwartz,
D-Galveston, of striking him on the
face at the end of a court hearing on a
suit alleging Schwartz owes a bank
$202,000 in overdrafts and loans.
Schwartz, 54, admitted he “lashed
out” at Briscoe W. Swan, 32, who
represents W.L. Moody & Co.
Bankers of Galveston, but disputed
whether he hit Swan on the face.
Schwartz dismissed the incident
as minor and a reaction to the stress
of being on the witness stand Mon
day from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
But Swan filed a police report and
his associate, Robert L. Collins, 28,
of Houston, said he wanted Schwartz
charged with criminal assault. Col
lins said Schwartz threatened to kill
Swan and that he felt Swan was in
danger.
Moody bank operations chief Nor
man Revie said he saw Schwartz “hit
him (Swan) a good crack in the side of
the face. ” Revie quoted Scl|J
