Danville is located 130 miles south of Chicago. The two sophomores worked on the Roosters’ baseball field during the day as a part-time job and had games every night. “Playing every night helped me in preparing myself mentally more than anything else, ” Slavens said. “It was almost like playing for the minor leagues except we didn’t get paid.
